Here are the answers to some of the questions you might have concerning this feature:
- Why do I not see the Catalog Optimization page in Backstage Promotion?
- Why do I only see a few tracks from my catalog in this section?
- How do I activate Spotify Discovery Mode for my track?
- How often is the information displayed on the page updated?
- What do the various statuses (Live, Stopped, Not recommended) mean?
- How is gained streams calculated?
- How is the percentage gained streams calculated?
- What does “No Positive Impact” mean?
Why do I not see the Catalog Optimization page in Backstage Promotion?
If Catalog Optimization is not displayed in the Promotion section of Backstage, our in-house technology, Believe Smart Discovery, has not yet predicted profits from a boost in Spotify Discovery Mode for your tracks.
To be profitable the gained streams should compensate the royalty discount applied by Spotify on Radio & Autoplay streams.
Why do I only see a few tracks from my catalog in this section?
The tracks displayed in this section have been selected by our proprietary technology Believe Smart Discovery to boosted by Spotify Discovery. Believe Smart Discovery technology predicts and promotes tracks that can really gain profits from a boost in Spotify Discovery Mode. It also stops campaigns automatically when they are not beneficial anymore.
Sub-users accounts will see the tracks in Catalog Optimization in Backstage Promotion according to the catalog they have been given access to by the administrator account on Backstage.
How do I activate Spotify Discovery Mode for my track?
Spotify Discovery Mode is automatically activated and deactivated on tracks by our Believe Smart Discovery (BSD) technology.
How often is the information displayed on the page updated?
Track selection and stream data are both updated at the start of each month.
Catalog Optimization in Backstage Promotion displays this current month's track selection and estimated gained streams, up until the start of the current month.
What do the various statuses mean?
- Live: Spotify Discovery Mode is currently activated for your track, after being selected by Believe Smart Discovery technology.
- Stopped: After a while, a previously activated track may no longer be benefiting from Spotify Discovery Mode. This is the case when the royalty discount applied by Spotify is not compensated by the streams gained. In this case, Spotify Discovery Mode is automatically deactivated. The track may be reactivated in the future, if our BSD technology reidentifies potential benefits.
- Not recommended: The tracks that are not displayed have never been activated for Spotify Discovery Mode, as the royalty discount applied by Spotify would not be compensated by the streams gained.
How is gained streams calculated?
Gained Streams is the estimated increase in streams attributed to Believe campaigns on Spotify Discovery Mode. Estimated gained streams are determined by the difference between streams on Spotify Radio and Autoplay before and after the campaign is launched. If a campaign does not bring the predicted positive impact, it will be tagged as such and the campaign will be automatically stopped.
How is the percentage gained streams calculated?
The percentage is the estimated increase in streams attributed to Believe campaigns on Spotify Discovery Mode, out of total Spotify Radio and Autoplay streams.
What does “No Positive Impact” mean?
If a campaign on Spotify Discovery Mode does not bring the predicted positive impact, it will be tagged as such and the campaign will be automatically stopped.
