Label Code
The Label Code is the four-digit identification number assigned automatically and exclusively by the GVL, the German Collective Management Society for neighbouring rights. The latter still sometimes uses this code to generate its neighbouring rights statement at the time of distribution.
Historically, the Label Code was used to compensate for the lack of data (title, ISRCs, etc.), but since 2017 it is no longer mandatory. The GVL has in fact adopted the ISRC to reconcile data (broadcast, catalogue) and allocate income. Nevertheless, some reports are still established using the Label Code.
The entire catalog managed by Believe is declared under its unique Label Code. You therefore do not have to take any action: for information in the Neighbouring Rights section of your Backstage, the mention of the Label Code is also an optional information.
If you still wish to receive your Label Code, and if Believe has been mandated to manage your Neighbouring Rights, you can reach out to the neighbouringrights@believe.com team, remembering to indicate your client number.
